Wayne County Board meets in Regular Session
The Wayne County Board of Education met last night and honored
Superintendent John Dalton, who was serving as superintendent for his
last meeting before retirement. Students and staff members expressed
appreciation to Dalton for his 29 years of service to the Wayne
County Schools, 18 of those years were as superintendent. Board
chairperson Patty Roberts presented Dalton with a plaque noting his
years of service to the district.

Dalton noted that the current school year has been a great one and
the expansion of the district has gone very well. He said financially
the district will end the year with a projected fund balance of over
$1 million.

He expressed his thanks to the board for the opportunity that he was
given to serve as superintendent and he expressed his well wishes
moving forward.

Also during the meeting, the board approved the tentative budget for
2014-2015 which totals approximately $27.9 million. The budget for
next year includes the mandated one percent pay increase for all

The board approved a contract with Lake Cumberland District Health
Department for a registered nurse at four of the schools in the
