The Wayne County Fiscal Court met in regular session Thursday, May
14th and authorized Judge Executive Mike Anderson to obtain an
appraisal of the Recycling Center, as the county begins the process
of purchasing the building.
The county currently rents the building at a cost of $800 per month.
Over time, they would save money with the purchase of the property.
Also during the meeting, the court authorized Anderson to sign the
easement for the Young Farm Road bridge replacement project. The
easement for the new bridge will increase from 30 feet to 40 feet.
Magistrates heard the first reading of the budget ordinance for the
Fiscal Year 2016. The total of all funds being approximately 9.9
million dollars. The second reading of the ordinance will be held
during the next meeting.
Following a discussion regarding ambulance rates for Wayne County
EMS, the court approved a new rate schedule that was recommended
by the billing company. Rates have remained the same for the
ambulance service since 2009, and the increase is necessary ahead
of a proposed medicare reimbursement increase.
The court met in executive session to discuss a personnel matter, but
no action was taken. They also approved the low bidder for salt for
next winter, with the anticipation of purchasing approximately 160
tons. They approved the second reading of an electrical inspection
ordinance which keeps the same ratesas were previously set for the
