Monticello City Council Meets And Approves 2016 Budget
The Monticello City Council met in regular session Monday, June 8th and
approved the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget. It's similar to the budget the
City is currently operating under and the general fund totals approximately
$2.3 million dollars.

The council hear the first reading of the budget ordinance during a special
meeting June 3rd. The budget for next year includes a city employee pay
raise of approximately one percent.

Also during the meeting, the council reviewed the audit report for fiscal
year 2014, as presented by Barry Daulton. Daulton gave the city an
"unmodified" opinion, which is the highest that can be rendered in an
audit. He noted that there were no problems or deficiencies found in the
city audit.

The council approved a land and water conservation grant resolution that
will allow funding that was originally awarded to complete improvement
projects at the Aspire Center to be used for similar work at Memorial

The city had been approved for a thirty thousand dollar grant, which
required a 50% match to make improvements to the walking trail at
the Aspire Center and to construct small shelter areas. They have
received permission instead to complete similar work at Memorial
